Copyright & notices
Last updated:
Draft. This document is a draft and must be reviewed by a lawyer before the public launch. Items in square brackets are still to be completed.
We respect the work of designers and makers. This page explains our principles and how to report content you believe infringes your rights. It is a draft pending legal review.
01Our principles
- A generated pattern is a reconstruction: it transfers no intellectual property in the original design.
- We never remove watermarks or claim rights in other people's designs.
- We never present a reconstructed pattern as a copy of the original pattern.
- Photos are private by default: sharing is always the user's choice.
02What you can upload
Photos of your own work, of objects you own, or images you have the right to use. Uploading a protected pattern or someone else's work in order to reproduce and distribute it may infringe third-party rights.
03How to send a notice
Write to [email address to be defined] including:
- your contact details and, if you act on someone else's behalf, in what capacity;
- the work you believe is infringed (link, image or description);
- the content you object to and where it is, for example a share link;
- a good-faith statement that the use is not authorized;
- a statement that the information you provide is accurate.
04What happens next
We review every complete notice. If it is well founded, we remove or disable the content and inform the user, who may send a reasoned counter-notice. We may close the accounts of repeat infringers. [Response times and counter-notice details: to be defined.]
05False notices
Knowingly false or abusive notices may have legal consequences.
